Stellar runs guided stargazing evenings in the Maldives. We bring the telescope, set it up for the conditions on the night, and talk guests through what's actually overhead, the Moon's craters, the planets that are up, star clusters, the occasional nebula or galaxy.
Sessions happen on resort beaches, overwater decks, yachts and sandbanks, shaped around the setting and the occasion, a quiet evening for two, a family night, or a programmed resort activity.

Many Maldivian islands sit well away from city light, so the sky gets properly dark. On a clear night the Milky Way shows plainly and the stars stand out sharp.

The Summer Triangle, which includes the bright star Deneb in Cygnus, is positioned high overhead during the evening hours in October.
Mercury
Not visible; it is too close to the Sun to be seen.
Venus
Visible in the evening sky shortly after sunset before it sets.
Mars
Visible late at night, rising in the early morning hours.
Jupiter
Visible in the early morning hours before sunrise.
Saturn
Visible throughout the night, rising around sunset and setting around sunrise as it nears opposition.
A Sky That Never Repeats
A look at what's coming up over the atolls in the months ahead, a meteor shower, a planet at opposition, a close approach. Worth knowing if you're planning a stay around something particular.
Orionid Meteor Shower
The Orionids peak with a ZHR of approximately 20 meteors per hour, originating from the debris of Halley's Comet.
Southern Taurids Meteor Shower
This shower is known for producing a higher-than-average number of bright fireballs.
Geminid Meteor Shower
One of the most prolific meteor showers of the year, often producing up to 150 meteors per hour at its peak.
Quadrantid Meteor Shower
A strong but brief meteor shower that typically peaks with a high zenithal hourly rate.
What Lies Beyond the Eye
A few of the galaxies, nebulae and deep-sky objects we observe through the telescope. Long-exposure imaging shows more than the eye sees on the night.
These are long-exposure images, they show more colour and detail than the eye sees through the telescope. What's visible on the night depends on the season and the sky.

Before You Look Up
Not at all. Every evening is led by a guide who'll meet you where you are, whether you've never looked through a telescope or you already know your way around the sky.
The Maldives has plenty of clear nights, but the sky doesn't always cooperate. If it's cloudy we'll reschedule at no cost, or run an indoor astronomy session if you'd prefer.
Yes. We bring the telescope and everything needed to your yacht anywhere in the Maldives, and handle the setup ourselves.
